Introduction
Cervical cancer screening has successfully decreased cervical cancer incidence and mortality. The American Cancer Society(ACS) guideline for the early detection of cervical cancer was last reviewed and updated in 2002; for the first time, thoserecommendations incorporated human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA testing.Since that time, numerous studies have beenpublished that support changes to recommended age-appropriate screening as well as the management of abnormal screen-ing results, as summarized in Table1.
